Where did the time go?

Well... my baby sister turns 20 today. How did this happen? I swear she just started learning to drive. I still cannot believe she is in college and in the middle of her sophomore year. CRAZY! However, I'm very excited for her to enter into her twenties :)

Happy Birthday Jenny Shell! Welcome to your 20's!

There's something I've wanted to do for a while now. Very strange because I'm not the best runner, but I've been wanting to run a half marathon. The full one isn't going to happen...let me just tell you that! But I've been searching and the Austin area has TONS of marathons going on all the time.  I found one on Valentine's day... Run Austin Love Austin. I thought that could possibly be a good amount of time.

I've been getting lots of advice from people who have run halfs and fulls before which has been very helpful.  I just cannot decide if mid-February is too soon.  I think I'll just start training for it and when the time comes if I feel ready I'll go for it...if not then there's another marathon a few weeks later in March.

If I start getting good at this blogging thing I'll update you on my training. :)

I better get going...Off to do birthday stuff with sister and last minute wedding things before I leave town!

xoxo

Merry Christmas! Blog Post # 1 ...

Every year my family picks one Christmas movie to watch on Christmas Eve before we all go to bed. This year we watched two... well pieces of A Christmas Story and all of It's a Wonderful Life. I love It's a Wonderful Life (hence the blog title :) ) I love the entire message of the movie. I love the Christmasy-ness of it. I love the angel Clarence. I love that the famous Sesame Street characters Bert and Ernie's names were inspired from the cop and taxi driver this movie. I love George and Mary's dancing at the beginning. I love their kids too. I love the part when George says: "What is it Mary? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey, that's a good idea. I'll give you the moon." I love that part.

But one of the best lines in the movies comes at the end. No not the 'every time a bell rings.." line. It's when George is surrounded by his family, friends, neighbors, coworkers who all have just donated a lot of money to bail him out of trouble. Then his little brother Harry says... "A toast to my big brother George. The richest man in town." I cry every time. Of course we know he's not talking about the money he has...but the rich amount of love that comes from his family and friends. Especially during this time of year...I feel an overwhelming amount of love from God, my friends and my family. I don't deserve it, but I am the richest girl in town.

I'm just trying this blog thing out. I know lots of people who have them, and I love reading to catch up on their lives. See pictures. Know what's going on. I've never been one to keep a journal very well, but always wish I did. So here's my attempt. :)

I thought it would be fun to start documenting this time in my life. Teaching - the job I've dreamed of forever and engaged to the man of my dreams!

So here it goes...welcome to my (soon to be our) life! ;)
