Wordless Wednesday - - uhhh I mean Thursday?!

So I've never really participated in Wordless Wednesday and then this morning I realized it was THURSDAY!! Where has the week gone?! Oh my! Well.... Here's a little video of the new puppy. Please pardon my 'baby talk' but I just can't help it with the little guy.

Ry and I are exhaustedddd...he's up every two hours crying. We spent our first morning (yesterday) with him at the Vet - - he has two parasites...ewwww. He's ok now. They said it's very normal. He wasn't eating so that was really concerning them. I won't go into details because it's just so gross!!! But all is well and he's sleeping by me right now. He's very much a cuddler... probably misses his mommy and not feeling so great.

Hopefully this video works! I LOVE my Flip Mino - I use it in my classroom all the time. Nothing like video taping a kiddo to motivate them! hehe -

These are the easiest things ever to video with and upload to the computer. Santa surprised me last year with this gift! Mine is silver. :)

One last thing...the Mr. loved my hair. He said it's definitely the shortest I've ever done, but thinks its cute. He promised he would tell me if it was something he absolutely didn't like. (yikes!) People say, "you don't have to care what he thinks...it's your hair ...do what you want. You're the one 'wearing' it." Well I sort of agree to an extent...but I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to make myself look pretty for him!

It's a wonderful life!

Introducing the new....Mrs. Corl!

I think my face says it all... I'm a little freaked out. No picture of the back - but lets just say it's short! I'm a little nervous to see the Mr. later when we go pick up our furry child. Eek!

I'll post pics of Moose soon!

Miscellany Monday!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Happy Monday everyone!!! It's the last week of July...can you believe it?!

1. Coffee - Love it and I don't know what I'd do without it! When did you get hooked to coffee? My addiction really started when I started teaching. It was something yummy to drink in the morning before my early/crazy/unpredictable day started - and the caffeine was always much needed. I'm proud that I only drink ONE cup a day!

2. Moose - that is the name of our new Chocolate Lab Puppy. We have not picked him up from the breeder yet. She is in Houston (tx) and has the cutest/healthiest litters. Crossing my fingers that I get to go pick him up today!!! Keep you updated... here's a pic or two...

These aren't the best pictures...but isn't he cute?! He sorta looks sad to me. :( Hopefully that will change when he's in his happy new home. Oh yeah... I look disgusting from the long/late drive. See I'm not liking my bob so much here (#5 below..) What's in a name? On our way to Houston to go pick him out we started brainstorming names. Tons of names came up... We knew we wanted a male dog so we had: Ace, Reese, Bailey, Hershey etc. Then I thought of Moose...more than one meaning. Chocolate Mousse :) and Moose the animal is BIG! And we know this little guy will get big! Anways - as soon as I said it Ryan said that was his first choice...unique and fun. So Moose it is!

3. Mrs. Corl's Reef...I love being a teacher for mannnnny reasons, but I love that my job allows me to be creative and 'cutesie' as I like to call it. Last year my classroom theme was Miss Gautille's Galaxy.. I LOVE STARS! Lots of great analogies ("Reach for the stars" ...) And ways you can use it in your classroom to benefit the kids. Well once my name changed I was like hmmm.... Mrs. Corl's Comets? Keep the star thing? Then I thought of Mrs. Corl's Reef. Ocean theme! (Corl is pronounced like CorAl) "Dive into learning" "Crab a good book" "A job Whale done" "On a treasure hunt for knowledge!" Yes yes - I searched a lot for ideas from other teachers (we all steal ideas from each other!) and it's become a little over the top. Haha, but that's ok! Here's my website link... Lemme know what you think! My Classroom Website! -check it out!

4. Groove - A few wks ago I was talking about how tough it is to get into a groove. Ry and I being in a new house and new life situation... finding a groove with cleaning, yardwork, taking the trash/recycling out, grocery store trips, laundry...etc. We have started to get into a groove....I'm sure throughout life this will continue to evolve. Ryan did Yardwork (which he loves with his new toys... lets see how long this lasts) and I stayed inside to clean the house. I LOVE ME A CLEAN HOUSE! Anyways -it's coming along :)

5. Haircut - Last week of June I got a hair cut. Love it... cute bob. Well now it's only been three weeks - well I guess now four weeks later, and it's shaggy!!! I forgot that short hair requires more trims to keep it in good shape. I'm sort of wanting something a little different... like the bob was cute but it was all curled under and I felt like it made me look younger. I want Married Girl Hair! haha ... So here's a few pics I found. More of a straight, textured bob....

I'm horrible at watching American Idol these days.. and this girl was a contestant. I hope she was a nice girl cause if I bring this picture and she was not so nice they might be thinking - 'you wanna look like that girl?!' haha I just like the style and texture of the bob... what do you think? I'm a brunette though - so I'm trying to imagine this!

Have a great Monday!

It's a wonderful life!

Five Question Friday!

I'm sad I've only had one post since my last Five Question Friday! Oh well... doing VBS was so fun and totally worth it!

Ok- now for 5 question Friday!

1. What were your school colors?
They always have been Red, Black and White!!! Love those colors actually... I really loved them throughout high school. College colors were Maroon & Gold! GO BOBCATS! Love me some Texas State. :)

2. What's the best compliment you ever received?
For some reason...I don't take compliments very well. Maybe it's cause I'm embarrassed or just surprised. I don't know, but I have a hard time saying 'thank you' and instead I'll point out some flaw in what they said.  But this past year I had a parent of one of my students give me a wonderful compliment. She said, "My son has NEVER liked reading. And all of a sudden I'm finding him in his room reading chapter books! Whatever you're doing is great and you're working miracles with my son. Thank you - cause whatever you're doing is amazing!"

As a teacher...you never know how parents feel about you. Usually... well of course if they have something negative to complain about you always know. But the positive stuff doesn't happen too often. Then randomly a parents will say two sentences like that to you...and you're reminded why you entered the profession. I love my job! That time I did say 'thank you'.

3. Do you buy cheap or expensive toilet paper?
I feel like I typically look for what's on sale...but the cheap stuff isn't so nice to your skin!!! So yeah... I'd have to say on the more expensive side or the nice stuff on sale!

4. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? Or have you had one for someone else?
Yes! My 'sweet 16' was a total surprise. A good friend took me out to eat and then we came back to my house and more girls were over to have a sleep over!! We watched some chick-flick I cannot remember, but it was of course a blast. Friends, cake, presents, surprises, movies, candy, popcorn, laughs and love!

5. What is one material possession that you "can't live without"?
I'd have to say my cell phone. Now that I've joined the Smart-Phone world... (Ry and I go Droids...) I have everything I need on there! Phone, internet, navigation etc.... Sad to say, but it's crazy addiciting.

We have a fun announcement to make soon! Stay-tuned.... until next week!

It's a wonderful life!

VBS- Vacation Bible School

Alrighty...so this week I am helping out with vacation bible school at my church. I'm doing the morning and afternoon 'show'. Really it's leading songs and introducing 'bible buddies' (cute little characters that visually remind the kids of the verses) and do silly skits. It's an ocean/ship theme... High Seas Expedition. They told me I could dress up....
(Took this with my phone...if you couldn't tell already from the blurriness)

This is what I came up with! haha... all from my closet (except the skull bandana I got from Wally World).... the kids thought it was hilarious! Other adults were like..."Wow it's so great you'll dress up for this..." Well what else was I supposed to do?! I'm new here and have no idea what other years before have done... I couldn't tell if it was a compliment or if they thought I was over the top. hmm... I'm leaning toward the first one - I hope!

Anyways! Happy Tuesday!

It's a wonderful life!

Five Question Friday!!!

Being a new blogger to the blogging world...I love searching around to find other great blogs!!! Mama M. has the cutest family ever! Love her title too... check it out!

So she'll post 5 questions and I'll answer... here goes nothin!

1. Do you collect anything?
When I was younger I used to collect two things... Boyd Bears and Tinkerbell 'stuff'.

My mom started giving me Boyd Bears when I in about 1st or 2nd grade. She knew I wanted to start collecting 'something' and it became something I just looooved to get. They're these cute figurines of bears with different themes. Sometimes they were bunnies. They have a hidden paw print on each one and that was my favorite part about getting a new one. I had to find the paw print. I also loved the stuffed animals.

Being a dancer most of my life...I was called 'twinkle toes' which somehow lead to my love of Tinkerbell. I loved that she was cute, sassy and that she could fly! I must have had a crush on Peter Pan when I was little...haha I still loved seeing her fly across the Magic Kingdom at Disney!

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.

Ashton Kutcher... alwayssssss have had a celebrity crush on this guy. No matter what people say about him - he's adorable and funny! Really started crushing on Ashton when he was in Just Married. Loved that movie!

Jim Halpert - I mean John Krasinski. Ryan and I love watching The Office, and John plays funny sales guy Jim on the show. I think John's cute, but I really love his character and I think that's why I'm putting him on this list. However, I know actors say, "You don't really know me...you just feel you know me cause of the character I play." I hope John would never say that to me.

Robert Pattinson - I know I know. This might be the same situation as Jim I mean John. Just love the character he plays. So it's not really his looks that make him breathtaking...it's his obsession to protect her and his overwhelming love for her. He can be very romantic. ;)

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?
Yes! Three! From a knee surgery in high school. I tore my ACL in a dance competition with my drill team when I was a Junior in high school. It was the worst pain I've ever known. I landed from the first double turn in the routine, my foot stayed in one place and my knee kept going which resulted in the tear. I -by the grace of God- finished the routine and was carried off by my teammates. My knee was swollen to the size of a softball. It had to be drained and was full of 300 cc's of fluid. YUCK. When it was drained the dr could tell me if I tore something or not. If they find blood in the fluid or a brown tinge...then you definitely did something. As he was draining my knee...I passed out. Out cold. So they laid me down to finish because with all the fluid still in there it's just a crazy amount of pressure. Anyways - he made me look at it...and it was the color of a coke! SICK! Anywaysss- getting off the scar topic. They did a scope on my knee and that's when I got my three little scars round my left knee.

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?
All I can think of here is Macaroni and Cheese. It's not gross or weird...but I'd eat it for a meal. One of my old roommates said that was CrAzY! I really don't think so though. ;) I guess as an 'adult' it's weird to eat it as a meal. It's the ultimate comfort food!!!

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?
Almost! It's my biggest fear...big storms -esp tornados. In 3rd grade I went to a bday party at the Rodeo in Mesquite. I had a strange feeling, but maybe it was just a stomach ache from all the birthday sweets. Ok - so it starts lightning really bad and they come over the announcements during the funny clown acts and tell us to all leave. So we're running to the car and scared out of our minds!!! The mom that took us was a mess too, but who could blame her! She had a mini van full of 8 year olds! We drove to a gas station and did duck and cover in the car. We all started praying the Our Father over and over to focus on that instead of the storm. The big lights above the pumps were swaying back and forth back and forth. Thought it might fall on the van but it didn't. After the storm blew by we were stuck in traffic forever. I remember it was like 11pm and I thought I was up so late! haha Kinda makes you feel pretty cool when you're little.

YAY FOR A FIVE QUESTION FRIDAY FIRST!!!!

Look what I found....

So...Mardel's (a great Christian/Education store) is having a fabulous sale today!!!!!!

I stopped by after running a few errands and it was of course swarming with teachers!!!! School does start next month, but I haven't been in my classroom to know what I really need right now! UGH...oh well I grabbed a few organizer-like things and then I came across a table of journals! And look what I found....

Fantastic! So of course I had to get it. It was only $2.29 along with the 20% off greatness!

I've really been wanting to establish a better prayer/meditiation time before I start my day. The Catholic church has something that I think is so neat.  There is an old testament, new testament and Gospel reading for each day of the year! All three readings are linked with a common message or theme. How cool is that?! Word Among Us is a really great devotional that has the readings for you along with a reflection for the day! I ordered this RIGHT after Ry and I got back from the Bahamas and it's stilllllll not here yet!!! Ugh...just so you know you can always look these up online, but I don't think I'd enjoy having the computer during my 'quiet time' because the computer is distracting!!!!!!

Anything else you like to do besides reading the bible, a journal, and saying prayers?

It's a wonderful life!

Miscellany Monday - 1st post!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Being new to the blog world, I have stumbled across a great one! Carissa is a young mom of two precious kiddos. I love reading about motherhood for her and of course all of the funny and cute things babies/kids do!

So on Miscellany Monday I'm supposed to share a list of things that are random. I'm so good at that! haha

1) One Month of Wedded Bliss! - Ryan and I have actually been married one month today! I can't believe it! Just being silly yesterday I said, "Hey Ry...you know what tomorrow is?" He said (without skipping a beat might I add)..."Yeah our one month anniversary!" Love him! Of course for more than that. God never ceases to amaze me in how He can change our minds and hearts. He's teaching me to love better by learning to love Ryan more each day. Love you RLC!

Dad walking me to my groom! :) You can see happy mom on the left!

During our beautiful ceremony! Wish I had other pictures to share! I'll post some when our photographer has them! She is amazing.

Our fabulous wedding party and beautiful church!

Ok I'll stop now..hehe

2) Planners. I don't know about you, but I LOVE having a planner to keep me organized. Nothing big and fancy, but just a great calendar I can write stuff in. Well, I thought it was that simple for me... until the other day I went to Office Depot. I went in to get a planner and some blank cds. I grabbed the cds first and headed to the planner section. All of the back to school stuff was out (and as a teacher...seeing that made my stomach hurt - not ready for summer to be over yet!) and I love office supplies. Going around and figuring out what planner I wanted for the year - you would've thought it was a life or death decision. I started talking to myself in my head (am I the only one?) and figured out I wanted a big planner... so that was easy to narrow things down. Then I wanted tabs for the months, but not the paper flimsy ones, the plastic ones. Then I wanted months and weeks. This is the tricky part. I found planners with all the months in the front and then weeks. I found planners that said 'monthly' but only had weeks on the pages. I look at my watch and it had been an HOUR that I had been agonizing over this decision. Ridiculous! I finally found one. It was big with plastic tabs, a full month calendar and then the weeks behind it. It even started in July and ended next June. PERFECT! I had no idea how big of a deal selecting planners was for me until that trip.

3) Getting into a Groove... there's something to be said about this. Ryan and I just moved into a house and it takes a while for a groove to start. A grove with laundry, cleaning, yardwork, grocery store trips, cooking...etc. It's tough when there isn't a groove. I kind of feel lost in all the things I need to do! Yesterday I cleaned the house and Ryan did the yard...so I think there's a start. :)

4) Dogs. I really want a dog! I'd love to have a little furry child running around this place. We can't agree on a breed...so it might be a while. Need to wait until next summer probably so I can train it!

5) Trying to make a house feel like a home. Decorating is so fun but so expensive! Ryan and I made one trip to see what we could get to start decorating our house...we had so much fun and found we liked similar things. I think we sort of already knew this, but this trip solidified our thinking. I'll post more house pics when we have some good stuff up!

6) Twilight... Yes I've seen all 3 movies and am completely hooked! I decided to buy the first book to see what the fuss is all about. I sort of did this backwards - seeing movies before reading the books because now I imagine the movie characters instead of my own! I was told it was probably better this way. I bought the book last week and I'm halfway through it - I don't know about you, but that is fast for me!

7) Skin Care Does anyone have a skin care line that they just love?! I found early on in my pre-teen years that once I found something that worked for my skin - stick with it! Well now I'm sort of needing something different... I need a change. Anyone have a skin care line that they just loooooove?  Please lemme know!

Ok..being a first time Micellany Monday girl... It doesn't look too much like a list of little paragraphs! Maybe that's ok?? They are the random things that are making my life. :)

Go link up with Carissa @  lowercase letters !

Quotable Quotes!

Quotes are one of my favorite things...so I'll probably be sharing quite a few on here!

I've read/seen this quote a zillion times, but it really struck me recently. I'm sure you've seen it too... maybe read it with a different set of lenses.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your ...playing small doesn't serve the world. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” -M.Williamson

No other words needed.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! (aka - SYTYCD)

My favorite show! So You Think You Can Dance! This season is a little different...the judges picked the top 5 guys and top 5 girls to make up the 10 contestants. These top 10 dancers are partnered with an 'all star dancer'...these are dancers from past SYTYCD seasons. 'America' can call in and vote. Out of the bottom dancers the judges deliberate and a dancer is eliminated. Each week someone goes home. The bottom dancers of course get to do solos before the judges decide.

I've been a dancer as long as I can remember and planned to make a life out of it. I wanted to be a 'prima ballerina' until I got older and was exposed to more dance genres. Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, African Dance, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Modern, etc, etc... All I knew was that I wanted to dance everyday of my life! Well turns out God had different plans for me, but without having dance in my life I would not be the person I am today. It is still very much in my heart and soul, and you know you're a dancer if you cant sit still while a good song is on.

Just want to share one routine that I LOOOOOOOVE! It's absolutely amazing - Alex Wong is a 23 year old ballet dancer from Miami, Florida. He danced for Miami City Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre (NYC). Being an expert in ballet it was pretty crazy to hear he would be dancing a Hip-Hop routine with 'All-star' Twitch. Twitch is a master at Hip-hop, and Alex is an expert in Ballet. Doesn't quite mix...but Alex proves in this routine just how talented he really is! Tabitha and Napoleon were the choreographers of this dance and are also husband and wife. They are fantastic!

Check it out!
Hip-Hop ~ Alex and Twitch!

Let me know what you think! Oh by the way...the show is on Wednesdays from 7-9pm and Thursdays from 8-9pm all on Fox. (central time) I sound like I should advertise for the show! haha Oh wait I just did.

It's a wonderful life!

Face Lift!!

No not me... I gave my blog a much needed face lift! I loved the last template, but this new one came from Leelou Blogs. She has some great stuff! Check it out. :)

Not much to post today...however I am about to go see Eclipse. :) Have not read the books...which I was told I definitely need to, but I'll just see all the movies first and then compare. Not the typical way of doing it, but who cares!
